Elodie Abergel opens solo show at le 100ecs
From October the 26th to the 14th of November 2017, the Cent, a cultural factory in Paris will be hosting the exhibition “Passionate Territories / Rational Territories” by the Franco-Israeli artist Elodie Abergel.
Elodie Abergel is an emerging “artivist” with an international career. With promising projects for the 4th quarter of 2017 such as the exhibition of her works on the front of the Gare de Lyon and an exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Haifa, Israel, Abergel is a catalyst helping to deconstruct myths about the populations in conflict.
Gathering artworks (video, installations and photographs) from a number of years, the exhibition Territoires Passionnels / Territoires Relationnels examines the interpersonal relations amongst humans as well as the codes and behaviours to follow in Western societies. Furthermore, solicitous on the effects of geopolitical conflicts, Abergel analyses their essence in order to demonstrate their foolishness.
Among the artworks presented, the spectator will discover pieces such as:
– End of DNA, a series of photographs reflecting the loss of individuality to the detriment of efficiency in our contemporary societies;
– Endless Process a blatant parallelism between the automation of the environment and the automation of human behavior;
– Corps-raccords a work that reveals the inherent complexity between the relationships between man and woman;
– Abstract Resolutions, a photographic series showing the absurdity of geopolitical conflicts;
– United Nations Without S,
An installation made up of two chairs from photographs of Israeli and Palestinian houses above which their flags float (gathered respectively on each of the seats) proposes a parallelism between the political demands of each other;
– A Real Conundrum
In this video, all the complexity of the situation of the city of Jerusalem and the will on the part of the artist are combined to share his amused and critical gaze;
– Birds of a feather
Installation. While everywhere in the world, the uniformity of clothing is spreading, here everyone affirms his belief and belonging to the open.
The Cent ecs, a space of creation and production of cultural events, welcomes artists from a variety of disciplines in its 1800m2 in the 12th arrondissement of Paris.
After 20 years of hiatus, Eamonn Doyle has risen from the crowd with a fresh perspective to street photography. His work echoes the bustling sounds in the capital city of Ireland.
Contemporary Israeli artist Sigalit Landau explores Judaic symbols and Israel’s history. Via her artistic practice, the audience understands and is instructed on the current state of mind of the artistic ecosystem.
